Drop Spindle Class
Learn how to use a drop spindle with Dorothy McClure from the Cashmere Goat Association May 31st 11 am
The drop spindle class is a beginner-friendly fiber arts workshop where students learn how to spin yarn using a simple, portable tool, a drop spindle. No prior experience is required. We will cover the basics of preparing fiber, drafting, applying twist with the “park and draft” technique, and winding the yarn onto the spindle. You will learn the different parts of a drop spindle and how to use it effectively. The class will provide wool for the fiber and a drop spindle for students to practice with.
This is a free class in the FFA building Saturday at 11 am

More about Mulberry Meadows:
Raised as a third generation farmer and a ten year 4-H member Carol Ann Bachofer developed an interest in Boer goats as a retirement project!
After developing a herd of ABGA Boer Goat championship bloodlines a dispersal sale was held in the spring of 2018. It was at this time Carol Ann started to investigate the history of the Navajo Churro Sheep.
During college she was able to complete a weaving course and was hooked on weaving for a lifetime. Later spinning was added to her resume with the purchase of a Rio Grande Wheel designed by Rachel Brown, Taos, NM.
During the last few years and a lot of practice she has developed a technique of spinning one ply NC wool and using it as a core for an overlay of mohair!
Although she owns several looms, her peg loom is her favorite to weave Navajo Churro wool rugs. Carol Ann will be demonstrating spinning of Navajo Churro wool and peg loom weaving during the weekend.
Items offered for sale will include raw Navajo Churro wool, Pendleton wool blanket selvage, and Soulmate sock remnants.
Please feel free to stop by her booth for a visit. Carol Ann will be available to help answer your questions about spinning and weaving!
