GENERAL EXHIBITION RULES
- Eligibility and Compliance – Competition is open to the world in all classes. Exhibitors are responsible for knowing and complying with all rules and regulations.
- Entry Application – All entries must be submitted through the Showman App or via printable entry applications from the Goat Expo website. Goatexpo.com
- Entries must be signed by the exhibitor/owner or confirmed online with payment, agreeing to evaluation at the event.
- Telephone calls or faxes will not be accepted for entries, substitutions, or cancellations. Cancellations or substitutions must be submitted via email or letter written to the address above.
- Entry Deadlines – Entries must be submitted online or postmarked by midnight on the specified deadlines. Late entries will incur a $10 additional fee.
- Early Entries Encouraged – Early entries are appreciated to facilitate catalog and stalling chart preparation.
- Fees – Fees are listed on the ENTRY APP and posted online: goatexpo.com
- Stalling Requests – Specific stalling requests must be made at the time of entry.
- Sale Entry Numbers – Each sale entry will be assigned a number in the official catalog.
- Substitutions – Substitutions for all shows are accepted until midnight, May 28, with proper fees paid.
- Refunds – No refunds will be issued once entry fees are paid, except in cases where the Missouri State Fairgrounds cancels the event due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Check-In – All stock must be checked in before unloading.
- Health Certificates – All stock must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection from the originating state, including Missouri residents.
- Motorized Vehicles – No motorized vehicles are allowed inside the pavilion unless authorized by show management.
- Trailer Parking – Designated trailer parking is located south of the Pavilion (swine pavilion) on gravel only. Do not park on grass or block loading/unloading areas.
- Exhibitor Parking – Designated exhibitor parking is north of the swine pavilion. Do not park on grass or block loading/unloading areas.
- Camping – Camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Payment is made directly to MSFG. See the map on the Goat Expo website for details.
- Maps – Maps are available on the Goat Expo website: goatexpo.com.
- Show Packets – Show packets will be available at check-in under the orange canopy at Gate 7.
- Check-In for Shows and Events – Check-in occurs when stock health papers are verified upon arrival.
- Market and Breed Show Rules – Rules are posted online.
- Parking Restrictions – DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Dogs – No loose dogs are allowed. Dogs are prohibited near the arena or goat pens. Dogs must remain in trailers with sufficient air circulation or in secured pens (additional $10 fee).
- Service dogs must be leashed and properly identified.
- Pen Fees – A $10 fee applies for any occupied pen, as the facility charges per pen, per day.
- Rule Interpretation and Violations – The Goat Expo/Midwest Buck Sale LLC reserves the right to interpret rules, settle disputes, and amend rules as necessary. Violations may result in forfeiture of prizes and awards.
- Special Rules – Special rules for breed categories take precedence over general rules if conflicts arise.
- Breed Sanctioned Rules – Breed-sanctioned rules apply to sanctioned shows.
- Liability – Exhibitors, owners, and participants release the Goat Expo/Midwest Buck Sale LLC from all liability for damages, injuries, or incidents, even if caused by alleged negligence.
- Protests – Protests must be submitted in writing within 2 hours of award announcements, accompanied by a $500 nonrefundable donation to the MWBS scholarship fund.
- Objectionable Exhibits – Management reserves the right to remove any objectionable exhibit, animal, or person without a refund.
- Conflicts – Exhibitors may not sell, give away, or distribute items that conflict with concessions or privileges granted by the Midwest Buck Sale LLC.
- Advertising – Advertising is restricted to vendor or exhibitor spaces. Handbills, flyers, and public solicitation are prohibited.
- Cooking – Cooking is prohibited except in designated concession areas. No cooking appliances are allowed under pavilions or in the FFA building.
- Registration and Health Certificates – Registered animals must have original registration certificates. Health certificates must accompany all livestock at check-in.
- Scrapie Tags and Tattoos – Non-registered stock must have a USDA permanent scrapie tag. Tattooed animals with pedigrees are accepted.
- Ownership – All stock must be entered by the original owner of record.
- Showman – Anyone may show entered stock unless registry rules specify otherwise.
- Firms and Partnerships – Firms and partnerships must exist prior to entry and be bona fide.
- Breeder Definition – The breeder is the owner of the dam at the time of conception.
- Animal Alterations – No permanent alterations (other than wethering or disbudding) or dyes are allowed.
- Youth Supervision – Youth must be accompanied by an adult/parent/guardian on the premises.
- Arena Promptness – Promptness in the arena is required.
- Photographs – Exhibitors must participate in official photographs, which become property of the Goat Expo/Midwest Buck Sale.
- Advertising in Photos – No advertisements are allowed in official photos unless sponsored by the event.
- Removal of Animals – Management may remove any exhibit or animal deemed unsuitable without a refund.
- Animal Welfare – Exhibitors must provide humane care. Violations may result in disqualification.
Preamble
The Midwest Buck Sale/Goat Expo promotes the improvement of dairy, fiber, and meat goat breeding, as well as educational initiatives for junior exhibitors under the supervision of Agricultural Science Teachers (AST) or County Extension Agents (CEA). The event supports 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters in Missouri.
Definitions
- Breeder: Owner of the dam at the time of service.
- Grade: An animal with one purebred parent, showing predominant breed characteristics.
Attention: Use of Drugs- Non-veterinarian use of drugs in violation of FDA labeling is illegal. Exhibitors are responsible for their animals and may be disqualified if drugs are detected, regardless of intent.
Animal/Exhibitor Disqualification- Unethical fitting, unapproved drugs, or ineligible animals will result in disqualification. Examples of unethical fitting include unnatural alterations, injections, or surgical changes.
Force Majeure- The Midwest Buck Sale LLC is not liable for delays or failures due to unforeseen circumstances, including natural disasters, pandemics, or government regulations.
